Dr. Tara Chalmers-Nixon completed her medical degree at the University of Alberta, specializing in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, followed by a research fellowship in Inflammatory Bowel Disease. With expertise in disorders of the intestinal tract, including liver disease, Dr. Chalmers-Nixon spent 10 years working at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary before relocating with her family to Fernie, where the past decade has been dedicated to rural healthcare. Actively involved in initiatives to enhance education and collaboration among healthcare professionals, her efforts focus on improving access to specialist care in rural areas. Outside of work, time is often spent enjoying various outdoor activities in the beautiful surroundings of her home.

Dr. Allan earned a medical degree from the University of British Columbia, followed by a rural Family Medicine residency in Alberta. This was further complemented by a fellowship in Enhanced Surgical Skills, with a focus on rural surgery and obstetrics, completed in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. A passionate advocate for rural healthcare, Dr. Allan completed a Master’s degree in Global Surgical Care at UBC in 2022, specializing in rural and Indigenous surgical care in Canada. Outside of her professional commitments, she enjoys sharing her passion for sports and outdoor activities with her husband and their three young children.

Dr. Melissa Bereti is a dedicated rheumatologist with a strong commitment to improving the quality of life for patients living with rheumatic and autoimmune conditions. After completing a medical degree and residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Calgary, Dr. Bereti pursued a fellowship in Rheumatology. Areas of expertise include the management of inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue diseases, and vasculitis.
With a passion for advancing care in rural and underserved communities, Dr. Bereti actively participates in initiatives aimed at expanding access to specialized rheumatology services. A commitment to medical education also drives mentoring efforts for healthcare professionals to enhance their understanding of rheumatologic conditions.
Outside of work, time is spent hiking, practicing yoga, and exploring the natural beauty of British Columbia with family and friends.
